Honda City Facelift Spotted Before Official Launch
Honda is preparing to launch the updated version of its popular sedan, the Honda City, in the Indian market. Ahead of the official debut, leaked images of the upcoming Honda City facelift have surfaced online, revealing several design and feature upgrades.
The new Honda City facelift is expected to launch on May 22 alongside Honda’s upcoming SUV, the ZR-V. While the company has not officially confirmed the launch details yet, the latest spy shots have already created excitement among car enthusiasts.
This will reportedly be the second facelift update for the current-generation Honda City.
New Front Design Revealed in Leaked Images
The leaked images mainly showcase the front profile of the upcoming sedan. Honda appears to have redesigned the front fascia to give the car a sharper and more premium look.
The updated model is expected to feature:
- New LED headlamps
- Redesigned front grille
- Restyled bumper
- New dual-tone alloy wheels
- Updated Honda logo placement
One of the biggest visual changes is the new honeycomb-pattern grille, which gives the sedan a sportier appearance. The bumper corners have also been redesigned with larger air intake sections for a more aggressive front-end styling.
Interestingly, the Honda badge is now positioned above the grille instead of inside it, adding a fresh design touch.
Interior and Feature Upgrades Expected
Apart from exterior changes, the cabin of the new Honda City facelift is also expected to receive important upgrades.
Spy images of the camouflaged test vehicle hinted at a larger free-standing touchscreen infotainment system. Reports suggest Honda may replace the current 8-inch display with a bigger unit for a more modern user experience.
The updated sedan may also get:
- Ventilated front seats
- Powered driver seat
- 360-degree camera system
- Improved interior materials
- Updated dashboard layout
Honda is likely to focus more on feature enhancements rather than making major mechanical changes, as the next-generation Honda City is expected to arrive around 2028.
Engine Options Likely to Remain Unchanged
The upcoming Honda City facelift is not expected to receive any engine upgrades. The sedan will likely continue with the existing powertrain options.
Petrol Engine
The standard version is expected to use the same 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing:
- 121 hp power
- 145 Nm torque
Transmission choices may include:
- 6-speed manual gearbox
- CVT automatic transmission
Hybrid Engine
Honda is also expected to continue offering the strong hybrid version of the City. The hybrid setup may produce around 126 hp and come paired with an e-CVT transmission.
The hybrid variant has already gained popularity among buyers looking for better fuel efficiency and lower emissions.
Expected Price of the New Honda City Facelift
The updated Honda City is likely to be priced between Rs 12 lakh and Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom), depending on the variant and powertrain option.
With the facelift, Honda aims to keep the City competitive in the midsize sedan segment, where it competes with rivals like the Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia.
Honda Strengthening Its India Portfolio
Honda has been gradually refreshing its lineup in India to strengthen its position in the market. The updated City facelift and the possible launch of the ZR-V SUV indicate that the company is focusing on both sedan and SUV buyers.
The Honda City has remained one of the brand’s most successful models in India for years, thanks to its comfortable ride quality, premium cabin and reliable performance.
The facelift update is expected to help the sedan attract new customers while maintaining its strong presence in the segment.
