Mumbai Rains: Worli Metro Station Floods Like a River, Video Sparks Outrage

Mumbai, May 26 – Heavy rains lashed Mumbai on Monday, bringing life to a standstill and exposing major lapses in the city’s infrastructure. One of the most shocking visuals came from the newly built Worli underground metro station, which turned into a virtual river after just a few hours of rain.

A video that has now gone viral on social media shows rainwater gushing through the station, flooding platforms and forcing passengers to remain stranded inside the metro. The scene has sparked widespread criticism, especially with the station being part of the much-publicized Mumbai Metro’s Aqua Line.

Aditya Thackeray Targets Government Over Flooded Metro

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray lashed out at the Mahayuti government, calling the incident a clear result of corruption and poor planning. “Now we know why this line is called Aqua Line. Just the third rain of the season and the station is underwater. The metro services have been shut due to light rain – the truth of BJP’s corruption is out,” said Thackeray.

His remarks have added political heat to the situation, with many citizens echoing concerns about the quality of infrastructure being delivered.

Rain Wreaks Havoc Across City

Mumbai received intense rainfall on Monday morning, causing waterlogging in several low-lying areas. Suburban train services on the Central Railway’s Harbour Line between Wadala Road and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) had to be suspended from 10:25 AM due to waterlogged tracks.

According to data from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the heaviest rainfall was recorded in the Nariman Point fire station area with 104 mm, followed by A Ward Office with 86 mm, Colaba Pumping Station with 83 mm, and Municipal Headquarters at 80 mm.

As the monsoon season nears, Mumbaikars fear more chaos unless urgent corrective measures are taken.
