Indore Couple Missing in Meghalaya: “We Know the Route, Don’t Want the Service,” Said to Guide Before Disappearance

Mysterious Disappearance of Honeymoon Couple Raises Alarming Questions

Shillong: The disappearance of a newly married couple from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, during their honeymoon in Meghalaya has taken a chilling turn. Raja Raghuvanshi and his wife Sonam Raghuvanshi were last seen on May 23 in the East Khasi Hills district. While Raja’s mutilated body was found in a deep gorge on June 2, the whereabouts of Sonam remain unknown.

Couple Declined Further Help from Guide

According to the initial investigation, the couple had reached Shillong on May 21 and planned a trek to Nongriat village the following day. They hired a local guide, Bhakupar Vanshai, for the trip. Vanshai told police that after a three-hour trek from Mawlakhiyat to Nongriat, he dropped them off at Shipra Homestay.

The guide further revealed that he offered his services again for the next day, but the couple declined. “We know the route, don’t want the service,” the couple reportedly told him, opting to explore on their own.

Last Sighting and Suspicious Company

The owner of Shipra Homestay confirmed that the couple returned to the homestay around 5:30 PM on May 22, paid their dues, and prepared to leave early the next morning. On May 23 at 6:00 AM, they checked out, telling the staff they had plans to explore further.

The last known person to see the couple was tourist guide Albert Pade. He informed police that around 10:00 AM, he saw the couple heading towards Mawlakhiyat village. Disturbingly, three unknown men were reportedly accompanying them at that time.

Search Operations and Ongoing Investigation

Following Raja’s body being discovered on June 2, local police, assisted by NDRF teams, have intensified the search for Sonam. Despite no confirmed sightings, authorities are working with locals, guides, and resort owners to piece together the timeline.

Statements have been recorded from those who interacted with the couple, and forensic teams are examining the area where the body was found.

Family Suspects Kidnapping

Sonam’s family fears that she may have been kidnapped but holds out hope that she is still alive. They have demanded a CBI inquiry, citing the suspicious nature of the disappearance and the involvement of unknown individuals.

Conclusion

The tragic honeymoon turned horror story has shocked locals and tourists alike. The refusal of guide services, the presence of strangers, and Sonam’s ongoing disappearance have all added layers of mystery to the case. As investigations continue, the family and the public await justice and answers.
