Bihar Government Announces Recruitment for 2,600+ AYUSH Doctors Under National Health Mission
The Bihar government has launched a recruitment drive to hire over 2,600 AYUSH doctors under the National Health Mission (NHM) to improve healthcare services in the state. These doctors will be appointed on a contractual basis across Primary Health Centers (PHCs), Community Health Centers (CHCs), and Additional Primary Health Centers (APHCs) throughout Bihar.
The recruitment process offers a total of 2,619 contract positions, divided into three categories: 1,441 Ayurvedic doctors, 706 Homeopathic doctors, and 502 Unani doctors. The initiative aims to boost primary healthcare services, especially in rural areas, where these specialized doctors can provide accessible and affordable medical care.
Eligibility Criteria for AYUSH Doctors
Applicants for these positions must meet specific qualifications based on their discipline:

Ayurvedic Doctors: Must hold a BAMS degree from a recognized university, complete mandatory internship training, and be registered with the Bihar Ayurvedic and Unani Medical Council.

Homeopathic Doctors: Should possess a BHMS degree and be registered with the Homeopathic Medical Council.

Unani Doctors: Must have a BUMS degree and be registered with the Bihar Ayurvedic and Unani Medical Council.
In addition to educational qualifications, there are age limits for applicants:

General and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) males: Up to 37 years of age.

Backward classes, unreserved females, and EWS females: Up to 40 years.

Extremely Backward Classes (EBC): Both males and females up to 40 years.

Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST): Up to 42 years for both males and females.

Departmental employees: Can avail an age relaxation of 5 years, provided they meet the minimum eligibility criteria.
Salary and Application Process
The selected AYUSH doctors will receive a monthly honorarium of Rs 32,000. The application window for these positions opened on May 26, 2025, and will remain open until June 15, 2025.
