Covid-19 Cases on the Rise Across India
India is witnessing a gradual but concerning rise in Covid-19 cases, with active infections now nearing 6,000. As the country battles this surge, health officials are closely monitoring the situation, especially in states like Kerala, Gujarat, and Maharashtra, where the highest number of new cases have been reported. In the last 24 hours, four more deaths due to Covid-19 were recorded, raising the total death toll to 59.

Current Covid-19 Situation in India
According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the active Covid-19 cases in India have increased to 5,755 as of Saturday morning. Over the last 24 hours, 391 new cases were reported, slightly lower than the 498 cases recorded on Friday. While the number of new cases has been fluctuating, the overall trend of rising infections has continued for the past few weeks.

Covid-19 Deaths Reported in the Last 24 Hours
In the last 24 hours, four people succumbed to the virus across various states. These deaths occurred in Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra. Notably, a 45-year-old pregnant woman in Maharashtra passed away after her health deteriorated during delivery. Her Covid-19 test came positive after she began having seizures.

In Kerala, a 59-year-old man with pre-existing lung cancer died from the virus. The other two victims were over the age of 60 and had other underlying health conditions. This highlights the ongoing risk posed by Covid-19, particularly for those with co-morbidities or weaker immune systems.

What Health Experts Are Saying
Health experts have pointed out that the new Omicron subvariants—JN.1, LF.7, and LF.7.9—are contributing to the rise in cases. These variants are typically associated with mild symptoms, such as a low-grade fever and cough. However, experts advise that the virus can still cause severe illness, especially in vulnerable populations.

Conclusion: Staying Vigilant Against Covid-19
As Covid-19 cases continue to rise across India, it’s crucial for citizens to remain vigilant and adhere to health protocols, such as wearing masks, practicing social distancing, and ensuring regular hand hygiene. With the increase in infections, timely testing, and vaccination remain the best defense against the virus. The government and health authorities are working diligently to manage the situation, but individual responsibility is key to preventing further spread.
