Hyundai records yearly growth but sees monthly decline
South Korean automaker Hyundai Motor India recorded positive year-on-year growth in February 2026, selling 52,407 vehicles across India. This represents a 9.81% increase compared to February 2025, when the company sold 47,727 units.
However, the sales numbers show a month-on-month decline. In January 2026, Hyundai sold 59,107 units, meaning February sales dropped by about 11.34%.
Despite the decline, the company’s sales were largely driven by its popular SUV and compact car lineup, with two models contributing to more than half of total sales.
Hyundai Creta remains the best-selling model
The Hyundai Creta continued to dominate Hyundai’s sales chart in February 2026. The company sold 17,938 units of the SUV during the month, including sales of the electric version.
Compared with February 2025, Creta sales increased by 9.93%, showing its strong popularity among Indian buyers. Month-on-month sales also remained stable with a slight growth of 0.09% compared to January 2026.
Creta has consistently been one of Hyundai’s strongest performers in the Indian SUV market thanks to its design, features, and engine options.
Hyundai Venue secures second position
The Hyundai Venue was the company’s second best-selling car in February 2026. Hyundai sold 10,494 units of the compact SUV during the month.
Sales were slightly higher than February 2025, when the company sold 10,125 units. However, compared to January 2026, sales declined. In January, Hyundai had sold 12,413 units of the Venue.
Despite the drop, the Venue remains one of the most popular compact SUVs in the Indian market.
Hyundai Aura sees strong growth in sedan segment
Among Hyundai’s sedans, the Hyundai Aura delivered an impressive performance in February 2026. The company sold 6,733 units of the sedan during the month.
This marks a growth of over 40% compared to February 2025, when Hyundai sold 4,797 units.
Although sales were slightly lower than January 2026 figures, the Aura still showed strong demand in the entry-level sedan category.
Premium hatchback i20 records significant increase
The Hyundai i20 also posted strong growth during the month. Hyundai sold 5,852 units in February 2026, compared to 3,627 units in February 2025.
This represents a 61.35% year-on-year increase, making it one of the fastest-growing models in Hyundai’s lineup.
Another popular hatchback, the Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS, recorded 5,589 units in February 2026, continuing to maintain steady demand in the budget hatchback segment.
Hyundai Exter sales decline
The Hyundai Exter recorded 4,200 units in February 2026, which is lower compared to the 5,361 units sold in February 2025.
Industry reports suggest Hyundai may introduce an updated version of the Exter soon, which could improve its value proposition and boost demand.
Some models see zero sales
Interestingly, two Hyundai models recorded zero sales in February 2026. The premium SUV Hyundai Tucson, which has now been discontinued in India, did not sell any units during the month.
Similarly, the electric vehicle Hyundai IONIQ 5 also recorded no sales in February 2026.
Conclusion
Hyundai’s February 2026 sales show steady yearly growth, driven mainly by SUVs like the Creta and Venue. However, the company experienced a month-on-month slowdown, and some premium models recorded no sales.
With potential updates and new launches expected later this year, Hyundai will likely aim to maintain its strong position in India’s competitive automotive market.
