PM Modi’s Mega Gujarat Push: Inaugurates Projects Worth Over ₹5,500 Cr, Flags Off New Vande Bharat Train

New Delhi, June 3, 2025: In a strong move to tackle illegal encroachments, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) launched a major anti-encroachment drive on Monday across several key areas in East Delhi. The operation, carried out in coordination with the traffic police, resulted in the confiscation of 13 vehicles and challans issued to over 40 others.

Major Action from Khajuri Chowk to Bhajanpura

The drive began at Khajuri Chowk and continued to Bhajanpura Service Road Car Market, where MCD officials, along with the Shahdara North Zone team, seized illegally parked vehicles and took strict action against unauthorized structures. The enforcement included the use of bulldozers to demolish illegally constructed platforms and stairs outside shops in Brajpuri and Chand Bagh.

Furniture and wooden planks placed on public roads, particularly on the Brahmapuri Service Road, were also removed during the campaign. Officials stressed that these items were obstructing free movement and contributing to traffic congestion.

Encroachment Cleared in New Seemapuri

In another part of the drive, MCD officials targeted illegal encroachments near Suraksha Nursing Home in New Seemapuri. Several junk dealers operating from the street were removed, and their goods were cleared from public space. The action is part of a broader effort to reclaim public roads and sidewalks from commercial misuse.

Daily Action in High-Encroachment Zones

According to MCD officials, frequent operations are being carried out in areas with a high density of encroachment. Regular drives are scheduled daily from 6 PM to 9 PM, especially in the following routes:

  • Shastri Park to Khajuri Chowk

  • Khajuri Chowk to Signature Bridge

  • Wazirabad to Bhajanpura Service Road

These areas have been identified as trouble spots due to repeated violations and illegal parking.

Strict Warning Issued to Encroachers

Officials have issued a stern warning to shopkeepers and residents, urging them not to place goods or park vehicles on public roads. “No leniency will be shown to those who violate public space,” said an MCD spokesperson. The corporation emphasized that the purpose of the drive is to restore public order, ease traffic movement, and ensure pedestrian safety.

Commitment to Clean and Safe Public Spaces

The MCD has committed to maintaining a clean and encroachment-free city. Repeated offenders will face heavier penalties and legal action. Citizens are encouraged to cooperate with authorities and avoid occupying public land for private use.
