The decision follows a detailed investigation conducted by the college’s Anti-Ragging Committee.
Incident Reported by Fourth-Year MBBS Student
The case stems from a complaint filed on May 13 by a fourth-year MBBS student who alleged ragging by two house surgeons on the previous day, May 12. The student submitted a written complaint to the college dean, prompting the administration to launch a formal inquiry.
Following the complaint, the Anti-Ragging Committee held a meeting to review the incident and examine the statements of those involved. The investigation concluded that a verbal altercation had taken place between the complainant and the two house surgeons.
Committee Confirms Verbal Misconduct, No Physical Assault
According to MKCG Medical College Superintendent Professor Suchitra Das, “There was no physical assault, but a verbal spat did occur between the student and the house surgeons. Considering the seriousness of the issue and the college’s zero-tolerance policy towards ragging, the committee decided to impose a monetary penalty.”
The Anti-Ragging Committee deemed the conduct of the house surgeons inappropriate and held them accountable for creating a hostile environment. Both individuals were fined ₹25,000 each as a disciplinary measure.

The college reiterated its commitment to ensuring a safe, respectful, and inclusive atmosphere for all students. Authorities stressed that any form of ragging, harassment, or intimidation will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
