PM Modi’s Mega Gujarat Push: Inaugurates Projects Worth Over ₹5,500 Cr, Flags Off New Vande Bharat Train

Gandhinagar, May 27 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi continued his two-day visit to Gujarat with a grand roadshow in Gandhinagar on Monday morning, marking the beginning of a packed schedule on Day 2. The visit is part of a major push to boost infrastructure and development across the state.

The Prime Minister is attending the 20th anniversary celebrations of Gujarat Urban Development today at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar. During the event, he launched the Urban Development Year 2025 initiative, emphasizing the state’s commitment to modern, sustainable urban growth.

A key highlight of the day is the inauguration and foundation laying of multiple development projects worth ₹5,536 crore across various departments. These include urban infrastructure, transport upgrades, and energy sector initiatives.

PM Modi also flagged off two major train services — the Vande Bharat Express between Veraval and Ahmedabad, and an express train between Valsad and Dahod. Additionally, he inaugurated the newly gauge-converted Katosan-Kalol railway section and flagged off a freight train on the route, further strengthening Gujarat’s rail connectivity.

What Happened on Day 1?

On Sunday, the Prime Minister launched and laid the foundation for projects worth ₹24,000 crore. This included the unveiling of India’s first 9,000 horsepower locomotive engine and the inauguration of a state-of-the-art rolling stock workshop, built at a cost of ₹21,405 crore. He also flagged off the Ahmedabad-Veraval Vande Bharat Seva and the Valsad-Dahod Express train.

These initiatives are expected to provide a major boost to tourism, especially for pilgrims visiting the renowned Somnath Temple.

PM Modi also highlighted that Gujarat has achieved 100% electrification of its railway network. In Bhuj, which lies close to the India-Pakistan border, he laid the foundation and e-inaugurated 31 strategic projects valued at ₹53,400 crore.

This two-day Gujarat visit reflects the government’s continued focus on infrastructure development, enhanced mobility, and regional growth.
