690KM Range, Bigger Battery and Advanced Safety Features

Hyundai Motor India has launched the updated version of its premium electric SUV, the Hyundai Ioniq 5, in India. First introduced at the Auto Expo 2023, the model has now received a major upgrade after nearly two years. The latest version focuses on improved range, enhanced features, and better safety.

Price and Key Highlight

The new Hyundai Ioniq 5 is priced at ₹55.70 lakh (ex-showroom). The biggest upgrade in this model is its larger battery pack and significantly improved driving range, addressing one of the biggest concerns for EV buyers—range anxiety.

Bigger Battery, Longer Range

The updated Ioniq 5 now comes with a larger 84.0 kWh battery pack. According to ARAI certification, the SUV can deliver an impressive driving range of up to 690 km on a single charge.

This makes it one of the strongest contenders in its segment and suitable for long-distance travel. For example, the SUV can comfortably cover the distance between Delhi and Lucknow, which is around 550 km, without needing a recharge.

Design Updates and Exterior Changes

The new Ioniq 5 continues to be built on Hyundai’s E-GMP platform but features several design enhancements. These include:

  • Redesigned front and rear bumpers
  • New skid plates
  • Updated alloy wheel design
  • Revised rear spoiler
  • New V-shaped garnish lighting element

These updates give the SUV a more futuristic and premium appearance.

The car is available in four exterior color options: Gravity Gold Matte, Midnight Black Pearl, Titan Grey, and Optic White. All variants come with a premium Obsidian Black interior theme.

Interior and Smart Features

Inside the cabin, Hyundai has made several upgrades to improve comfort and technology. The SUV now features a new 3-spoke leather steering wheel with illuminated 4-dot design and a heating function.

Other highlights include:

  • Dual 12.3-inch screens for infotainment and instrument cluster
  • Redesigned center console
  • Wireless charging pad with physical controls for heated and ventilated seats

The vehicle is equipped with a connected car navigation cockpit (ccNC) system. It also supports over-the-air (OTA) updates, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and in-car payment options for EV charging.

Through Hyundai’s Bluelink platform, users also get a remote immobilization feature, enhancing vehicle security.

Enhanced Safety Features

Safety has been significantly upgraded in the new Ioniq 5. The SUV now includes:

  • Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist
  • Side Parking Distance Warning
  • Multiple airbags
  • Anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD)
  • Electronic stability control (ESC)
  • Tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS)
  • Parking sensors

These features ensure a safer driving and parking experience.

Final Verdict

The updated Hyundai Ioniq 5 brings meaningful improvements in range, design, and technology. With a 690 km range, premium features, and advanced safety systems, it stands out as a strong option in India’s growing electric vehicle market.

For buyers looking for a long-range, feature-rich electric SUV, the new Ioniq 5 offers a compelling package that combines performance, comfort, and modern technology.
